High Five for Friday

We've had a very snowy week here in MD- I am [like everyone else in the world] ready for some warmer weather!  However, minus the snow canceling some plans, we've had a decent week.  Brooks is walking/running around more sturdily [is that a word?] and we are wondering why we ever wanted him to walk in the first place!  Here's a few pictures to sum up our week:

1.  I had time to do my hair [like, really do it. curling iron and everything. yea!] and make up before we went out on Saturday so I had to document it...

2.  Flowers from my sweet husband.  I like him.

3.  This.  He's getting one for Valentine's day.

4.  So thankful we never lost power.  If you need to warm up or take a hot shower, let me know!

5.  Homemade "Panera" broccoli cheese soup.  Amen.

    1. Of course!
      1 T melted butter
      1/2 medium chopped onion

      1/4 cup melted butter
      1/4 cup flour (I used 1/2 cup)
      2 cups half and half
      2 cups chicken stock
      1/2 lb fresh broccoli
      1 cup carrots, julienned
      1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
8 ounces grated sharp cheddar cheese
      salt and pepper

Saute onion in the tablespoon of melted butter, set aside.
Whisk together 1/4 cup butter and flour over medium heat to make a roux. Stir constantly and add half and half. Once combined, add chicken stock and simmer for 20 minutes. Add the broccoli, carrots, and onions. Cook over low heat for 20 minutes. Add salt, pepper and cheese and cook until cheese is melted. Stir in nutmeg.

      Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!
